My name is Melissa and I’m the Animal Care Assistant at VHS. I have been passionate about VHS for about ten years now. I was first introduced to VHS when I was 8 years old. My birthday gift that year was a kitty, and I got my cat from VHS when we were still on Spring Street. After that, I never forgot about VHS and knew that when I got older I wanted to be a part of the organization. Finally, in October of 2007 I attended the monthly volunteer orientation and started volunteering in November as part of the 'Care & Comfort Team' in Kitty City. It was a blessing, VHS means the world to me. Every single cat, volunteer, and staff member is like family to me. Currently, I clean cages and feed kitties, but also help with medications, new surrender exams, adoptions, the front office, and just about anything else around the shelter. VHS is so incredible to me and I cannot wait to continue growing with the organization every day.
